February 23, 1929 ~ September 28, 2016 (age 87) 87 Years OldA. L. Stewart, age 87, of Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Woltz Hospice Home.
He was born on February 23, 1929, in Surry County, NC to the late Alexander Leroy Stewart, Sr. and Bessie Eller Flinchum Stewart.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Lou Stewart; two sons, Dale (Tina) Stewart and David (Teri) Stewart; one grandson, Jeffrey (Molly) Stewart; and four step grandchildren, Chrissy (Nick) Robson, Jonathan Gwyn, Wendy Irick, and Harry (Jennifer) Irick. He was a dedicated member of Hills Grove Baptist Church for 73 years, where he held many administrative positions and was a retired maintenance supervisor of Armtex, Inc.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leroy and Bessie Stewart; one sister, Arlene Montgomery; and three brothers, Glenn Stewart, Roy Stewart, and Roger Stewart.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Hills Grove Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Terry Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 pm. prior to the service.
