Alice Virginia (Moorefield) Mathies

Alice Virginia Moorefield Mathies, age 66, of Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away on June 15, 2017 at WFU Baptist Medical Center.

She was born on November 18, 1950 in Surry County, NC to the late Barney Talbage Moorefield and Sarah Ellen Rachel Moorefield.

Mrs. Mathies is survived by her loving husband, Early Lee Mathies; a daughter, Melissa Gail (Aurelio) Gonzalez; a son, Christopher Dale (Laura) Edwards; two step-sons, Tony Lee Randall Mathies and Bobby Lee (Shannon) Mathies; five grandchildren, Brittany Mills, Kimberly Bowman, Sarah Bowman, Arwyn Edwards, and James Edwards; four step-grandchildren, Ryan Mathies, Addison Mathies, Skyler Cole Mathies Wallace, and Chelsea Wilson; three great-grandchildren, Cyris Wayne Knott, Casen Jack Wilson, and Serenity Grace Mills; and two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Margaret Lawson.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Bonnie Bledsoe, Annie Mae Tuttle, and Beulah Lawson; two brothers, Douglas Moorefield and Bill Moorefield; and a half-brother, Coy Moorefield.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at 2 P.M. with Rev. Joe Lambert and Bro. Barry Marshall officiating.

Interment will follow in the Pinnacle United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
