Barbara Veronica Bubin Buonagura, age 73, of Westfield, NC, formerly of Hicksville, N.Y. passed away on August 23, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center.

She was born on December 15, 1941 in Greenpoint Brooklyn, New York to Michael Bubin and Sophie Bubin. Barbara was a life long insurance agent, specializing in life and home insurance.  She also spent over 50 years riding motorcycles and being a road representative for the American Motorcycles Association.  Mrs. Buonagura graduated Hofstra University in 1981 with a B.A. in Political Science with honors. She was very politically active and ran for the N.Y.S Assembly in 2000.  She was very proud of the work she did on many campaigns, including getting Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer elected as United States Senators from the great state of New York.

Mrs. Buonagura is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Buonagura, of the home; one son, James R. Buonagura, Levittown, N.Y.; one brother, William Bubin, San Jose, California; one sister, MaryAnn Whitman, Westfield, NC and one grandchild, Gina Rose Buonagura.

She was predeceased by her parents.

A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home from 7:00 P.M.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
