Donald 'Donnie' Wayne McQuinn

Donald ‘Donnie’ Wayne McQuinn, Jr., age 45, of Pinnacle, NC, entered his heavenly home on Thursday, December 21, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.

 

Donnie was born on June 4, 1972 to Donald and Gloria McQuinn of Westfield, NC. He was a graduate of North Stokes High School where he was an active member of the North Stokes Band and wrestling team.

 

He attended Surry Community College where he studied Fire/EMS Service training. Donnie started volunteering with Double Creek Fire Department and Stokes county Mountain Rescue before moving and joining Pinnacle Fire Department in 1999.

 

Donnie also worked as an EMT-Paramedic for Stokes County EMS and has been employed by the City of King Fire Department Station 30 as an EMT-Paramedic/Firefighter for 10 years.

 

Donnie met and married the love of his life, Ronalda, in 1999 and had one daughter, Kaitlyn and son, Cody O’Neal.

 

His love for God, his family, friends and his career was evident to all those who knew him. He always had a kind word to say, a soft-spoken demeanor that could ease any situation and the willingness to put others needs in front of his own.

 

During his career, he touched many lives and was very proud that his children were following in his footsteps of volunteering with the local fire department and giving back to the community.

 

He was also an active member and president of the West Stokes Band Boosters and loved watching his children participate in band.

 

Donnie was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Grady and Rachel Vaden of Westfield, Ira McQuinn of Dobson and Gertrude Kerns of Indiana.

 

Mr. McQuinn is survived by his wife, Ronalda; son, Cody O’Neal and daughter, Kaitlyn of Pinnacle, NC.  He is also survived by his brother, Scotty (Lea) McQuinn of Westfield and sister, Heather (Steve) Gonzalez of Sanford, NC along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved deeply and his in laws Roy and Myrtle Lowman.

 

Donnie is also survived by his Fire Department and EMS extended family.

 

Family visitation will be on Tuesday, December 26 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. and the funeral will be on Wednesday, December 27 at 2 P.M. at Brown Mountain Baptist Church.

 

The family would like to lovingly thank the King Fire Department, Pinnacle Fire Department, Stokes County EMS, Double Creek Fire Department, Mountain Valley Hospice, West Stokes Band Boosters and all Stokes and surrounding counties Fire/EMS/Rescue Departments for their love and support during this difficult time. With another thank you to all of our friends and family.
