Mrs. Hattie Jo Childress Manning, age 74, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on May 2, 1943 to the late Bill Childress and Hattie Bell Pike.

Hattie was a charitable, selfless and incredibly kind person.  She was a witty, humorous lady who loved to dance.  She was grounded with a strong faith in God that gave her the strength to be strong in her fight with numerous health battles and personal loss.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all she met.

Mrs. Manning is survived by her devoted husband Jimmy Lee Manning; three daughters, Joan Marie Manning, Shan Renee Manning and Keasha Lynette Manning; six grandchildren, Tasha Bradley, Candi Manning, Misty Manning, Jason Needham, Tiffany Allen, and Olivia Haffler; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; a sister, Carrie Belle Culler Harrell; and a special niece (daughter) Penny and husband, Mark Willard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Childress and Hattie Bell Pike Childress; a son, Terry Wayne Manning; two daughters, Janie Lee Gibson and Dusti Lynn Manning; four brothers, Earl Culler, Frank Childress, Charlie Childress, and Jimmy (Bo Bo) Childress; and two grandchildren, Amanda Manning and Christy Manning.

A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Cox-Needham Funeral Chapel  at  2 P.M. with Chaplin Sheree Jones and Mark Willard officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hattie C. Manning funeral fund, C/O Cox-Needham Funeral Home, PO Box 37, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.

The family will receive friends following the service.
