Opal Mae (Lane) Smith

Opal Mae Lane Smith, age 96, of King, NC, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Rose Tara Senior Living Center.

She was born on January 17, 1921 in Stokes County, NC to the late Claude Aaron Lane and Hessie Edwards Lane.

Ms. Smith is survived by two daughters, Susan (Ray) Crumpler and Glenda (Dwayne Livengood; two grandchildren, Aaron (Krista) Britt and Heather (Adam) Mestemacher; a great-grandchild, Logan Britt; and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Smith was preceded in death by a loving husband, Herman ‘Pete’ Smith; her parents, Claude Aaron Lane and Hessie Edwards Lane; a brother, Aaron ‘Bud’ Lane; and two sisters, Pauline Joyce and Sarah Lane.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Olive Grove Baptist Church at 2 P.M. with Rev. Mitch Robertson and Rev. Todd Lusk officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Olive Grove Baptist Church.
