Mrs. Rachel Virginia George Martin, 95, of Westfield, NC (Francisco Community) passed away on September 1, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC.

 

She was born in Stokes County on April 9, 1921 to the late William Sanders George and Mary Flippin George. She was a member of Brown Mountain Baptist Church and a founding member of the Francisco Ladies’ Auxiliary.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Rayford Martin; one son, William Gray Martin; one sister, Clara Rogers; two brothers, Lloyd George and Julius George; and one son-in-law, Franklin Adkins.

 

Mrs. Martin is survived by one daughter, Ann Adkins; one son, Kent (Tracy) Martin; three grandchildren, Grant Adkins, Sara (David) Ward, and Laurie Martin; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Adkins and Michael Ward; and one sister, Ruth (Burke) Eastep.

 

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home with funeral services to be held on Monday, September 5, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Brown Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Rickey Rogers officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Brown Mountain Cemetery Fund, c/o Reggie Francis, 9352 NC 89 Hwy N, Westfield, NC 27053 or donations to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
