Roy Bryon Allen

Roy Bryon Allen of Archdale, NC, passed away at his home on March 18, 2016.

Roy was born in Shoals, NC, the son of the late John Augusta Allen and Carrie Dezarn Allen.

Roy was an active member of Mitchell’s Grove United Methodist Church of High Point, NC.  He served as Chair Person of the Administrative Council, Sunday School Teacher, served as Finance Chair Person and was also on the Usher Board.

Roy graduated from Shoals High School, Shoals, NC, Brevard College, Brevard, NC and High Point University, High Point, NC.  He began his teaching career at King High School, King, NC, later he would transfer to Trinity High School where he taught for twenty seven years. Roy was involved with (FBLA) Future Business Leaders of America for fifty five years.  He was a coordinator for judges for twenty five years.  He was involved in the local Jaycees.  Mr. Allen was very active in Archdale Trinity Kiwanis Club for many years.  He was involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters Association and was also known to spend many holidays working in the soup kitchen (homeless shelter).  Roy was always thinking of others.

Roy is survived by four sisters, Maude Creed of Mt. Airy, Blanche Falkenberry of Winston Salem, Lucy Still of Charlotte and Nancy Hunt (John) of Pinnacle; three brothers, Frank Allen (Mae) of Charlotte, Fred Allen of Gastonia, Lonnie Allen (Frances) of Pinnacle;  brother-in-law, Walter Croft of Aiken, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mae Allen Croft and five brothers, Clarence Allen, Luke Allen, James Allen, Henry Allen and Paul Allen.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on March 22, 2016 at Mitchell’s Grove United Methodist Church at High Point, 3511 Kivett Drive with Rev. Karen Kurtz and Rev. Carolyn H. Burrus officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. 

A graveside service will be conducted at Pilot View United Methodist Church Cemetery, 653 Pilot Church Road, Pinnacle, NC.
