Mrs. Betty Jean Epps Higgins, age 86, of Pinnacle, passed away on April 24th, 2024, at her home.
She was born on August 21st, 1937, in Montgomery County, to the late Mr. Percy V. Epps Sr. and Mrs. Cora Bell Epps.
Mrs. Higgins worked as a teacher for private education for many schools. Her favorite thing to do in her spare time was painting portraits. She is described as a very talented painter who you would find drawing on a sheet of paper at any given time.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Higgins; sons, Jonathan David Higgins, and Eric James Higgins; sister, Shirley Swartz; three grandchildren, Austin (Emily), Amber and Kristen; four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jameson, Clara and Gwen; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Higgins was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Winfrey; brothers, Bobby Epps, and Percy V. Epps Jr.; and a granddaughter, Kierstin Higgins.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, April 29th, 2024, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at 2:00pm with Rev. Roger Baker and Rev. Bill Thompson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pilot City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Cox-Needham Funeral Home on Monday, April 29th, 2024.
