Major Joel Johnson “Johnny” Hart, age 73 of Pfafftown, passed away peacefully at his home on March 29, 2024, after two years of declining health.
Johnny was born on July 9, 1950 in Forsyth County to the late Joel H & Sarah Johnson Hart.
He graduated from North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree. After graduation, Johnny was commissioned in the United States Army in 1973 as a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Division. Johnny proudly served his country for twenty years, nine of which were in Italy, Germany & Korea, before retiring in 1993 with the rank of Major in the Artillery Division. He began his employment with the King County Sheriff’s Office in Seattle, Washington, in 1994, as a 911 Operator. Approximately, 6 years later he transferred as an administrative supervisor of the Sheriff’s Department (precinct 4) in Burian, Washington before he retired in 2018.
Those left to cherish his memory include one sister, Joann Hart of Winston-Salem & one nephew, Jonathan M. Harris of Kernersville. His four-legged niece, Penny. Johnny cherished his nine first cousins, eight surviving & one deceased.
He had a special love for his animals, especially labradors. Mr. Hart was predeceased by his 5 dogs, Solo I, Sydney, Susie, Solo II, Lola, and 1 cat, K.C.
A memorial service for Mr. Hart will be held at Francisco Presbyterian Church on April 12th, 2024, at 2:00pm Rev. Rickey Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Full military honors will be presented after the service when his urn is buried in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials to be made to Francisco Presbyterian Church 7251 N.C. Highway 89 West, Westfield, NC 27053; or to the Wounded Warrior Project or your local animal shelter.
