Robert Smith Obituary

Mr. Robert Davine Smith, age 92, of Pinnacle, passed away on April 11th, 2024, at his home.

He was born on January 17th, 1932, in Dodge City, Kansas, to the late George Robert and Bertha Stone Smith.

Robert, known as “Bob” or even “Smitty,” was a man of many talents and passions. He devoted his life and served honorably in the United States Navy and Air Force. His unwavering commitment to duty earned him the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him.

One of Bob's greatest joys was found in his workshop, where he could often be found tinkering away on various projects. He was affectionately known as “Mr. Fix It,” by his wife. His hands were always busy and his mind forever curious, seeking to understand how things worked.

While Bob had a knack for fixing things, he also had a sweet tooth that was no secret to those around him. He had a fondness for snickers, particularly the full size, but would always share the minis with the children bringing smiles to their faces with each treat.

In his spare time, Bob found joy in the great outdoors. He loved the summers he spent at Lake Norman camping with his family and posting up a few fishing poles on the dock or boat. He enjoyed playing games and watching war movies. Another favorite pastime was collecting coins which was a testament to his lifelong curiosity and appreciation for history.

Above all else, Bob was a devoted husband. His greatest joy came from being a grandfather. Although a man of few words, he adored his grandchildren and reveled in every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom, sharing stories, and showering them with unconditional love. He was incredibly kind, patient and forever grateful. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Anna Lorene Smith; daughter, Debi and her husband Jim; sister, Eldora; grandchildren, Alexa, Matt, Heydon, Eli, Sky, Louie, Sean, Dominic, Lori, Chrissy, Dave, and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Carson, Poppy, Tyler, Amanda, Dominic, Zach, Keira, and Vinny; and great-great-grandson, Gus.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sons, Bobby and Randy; and his sisters, Shirley and Louise.

Bob will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take solace in knowing that Bob is at peace reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. May his spirit continue to inspire us and may his memory be a blessing to us all.

A service will be conducted on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at 11:00 am at American Legion Post 290 in King with full military rites.  Pastor Zack King will be officiating the service.
