Mrs. Alma Owens Dunkley, age 95, departed this life on June 10, 2017 at her home. She was born on August, 29, 1921 in Stokes County to Will and Alpha Shelton Owens of the Francisco community. She was married to Mr. Will Samuel Dunkley and she worked for thirteen years at J.P Stevens Elastomeric as well as farming, gardening, and being a housewife.

 

She was a member of State Line Primitive Baptist Church for 66 years and a dedicated member of the Francisco VFD Ladies Auxiliary. She was a beloved member of the Francisco Community with many neighbors and friends.

 

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Alfred Dunkley and wife Anna Leigh of Westfield (Francisco Community); her grandson, Allan Dunkley and wife Abbey of Westfield (Francisco Community); one sister, Nellie O. Boles of Pilot Mountain; a special niece, Jane Owens Bowman and husband Ricky of Mount Airy. As well as many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Will Samuel Dunkley. She was also preceded by five sisters Thelma Dunkley, Dora Boles, Rosabelle Owens, Nonnie Marie Owens, and Ruth Emma Owens; and one brother, James William “Jimmy” Owens.

 

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 2 P.M. at State Line Primitive Baptist Church. Officiating will be Elder Gary Lowe, Elder Jerry Cox, Rev. Ricky Rogers, and Rev. Terry Collins.

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 7 to 9 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.

 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to many friends and neighbors for their love and support. A special thank you goes to Mountain Valley Hospice for their excellent care of “Miss Alma”.

 

Flowers are welcome and donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the State Line P.B. Church Cemetery Fund (Carroll Dalton at 1448 State Line Church Rd., Westfield, NC 27053).
