Angela Charlene Smith departed this life and entered into the loving arms of Jesus and her mama and daddy on May 19, 2018 at Oak Forest Health & Rehabilitation in Winston-Salem. She was born in Surry County to the late John Wesley Smith, Sr. and Nannie France Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings Wyvonnie Porter, Pilot Mountain, NC; Donald “Ray” Smith (Faye), Mt. Airy, NC; Arthur Smith, Roanoke, VA; and Lonnie Smith, Fayetteville, NC; dear friends Ginny Mills (John), Winston-Salem, NC and Patty Pedersen (Mike), Denton, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley & Nannie Smith; sisters Nedra Clark, Mable Travis, Juanita Smith and brothers John Wesley Smith, Jr., Ronnie L. Smith and Larry G. Smith. Angela’s life was complicated by chronic health concerns for many years but found delight in watching wrestling, Westerns, classic movies, and horror movies and enjoying chicken wings, turnip greens, potato salad, her iPhone and Pandora, and making others laugh. Family and friends want to express gratitude to Jessica at Silas Creek Manor, all the staff at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation, Dr. Karen Cross and the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont for taking such good care of Angela. Pastor Timothy Lee Porter will lead a memorial service on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1pm at Cox Needham Funeral Home at 822 W. Main St., Pilot Mountain, NC. Interment of ashes will take place at a later time at Big Creek Cemetery, Westfield, NC.
