Bedford Stevens Obituary

 

Mr. Bedford Junior Stevens, age 74, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on March 29, 2018, at his home with his devoted wife by his side. He was born on February 9, 1944, in Patrick County, Virginia to the late Walter R. Stevens and Hazel Inez Collins Stevens.  Mr. Stevens was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, who proudly served his country.

Mr. Stevens is survived by his loving wife, Nancy P. Stevens; a daughter, Dawn Stevens; four sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne Stevens and wife Stacy, B. J. Stevens, Jr., Michael L Edwards and wife, Michelle, and Casey L Edwards and wife Kristen; a brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Crystal Stevens; twelve grandchildren, Daniel Hutchens, Taylor and Zachary Stevens, Courtney, Michael, Casey II, Jessica, Kurt, and Katie Edwards, Jonathan, Joshuwa, and Justin Preiss; four great-grandchildren, Chayton and Ember Preiss, Blake and Ashton Mabe; sister-in-law, Shirley Stevens; several aunts, uncles, and special nieces and nephews; and sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Leo Holder.

He was predeceased by his parents, the late Walter R. Stevens and Hazel Collins Stevens; and two brothers, James Robert Stevens and Jimmy Johnson.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Glinard Lawson and Rev. Charles Stevens officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Interment will be on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Boyles Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, at 3:00 p.m. with full military rites provided by Mount Airy American Legion Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain VFW post 9436.
