Billy Cook Obituary

Billy Ray Cook, age 93, of Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away on July 31, 2018. He was born on July 18, 1925 to the late Joel Thomas Cook and Artie Samuels Cook.

 

Mr. Cook is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Ricky Palmer; a grandson, Brandon Palmer and wife, Angie; two great-grandchildren, Coley Palmer and Luke Palmer; a sister, Selma Bisogne; three sisters-in-law, Violet Simmons, Carolyn Marion, and Joan Marion; two special friends, Carolyn Flippin and Joe Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Nina Marion Cook; a brother, Rufus Cooke; and a sister, Mildred Scott.

 

He was a charter member of Jessup Grove Baptist Church and South Westfield Ruritan Club.

 

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Jessup Grove Baptist Church at 5 P.M. with Rev. Barry Clement and Leslie Palmer officiating. Mr. Cook will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service.

 

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. at Jessup Grove Baptist Church.

 

The family would like to extend thank yous to Meals on Wheels, Jessup Grove Baptist Women, and Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church for delicious meals through the years. Thanks to Mount Pilot Drug and Dr. Randall Keith and his staff for their kindness and professionalism through the years. Also, thanks to Kindred Home Health, Mountain Valley Hospice, Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, and Central Continuing Care.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
