Mr. James Christopher “Butch” Cook, age 62, of Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away unexpectedly on November 16, 2018. He was born on November 27, 1955, to James Beauford and Betty Needham Cooke. He spent all of his working career in the construction business and many years with I.L. Long Construction Company
Mr. Cook is survived by a son, Christopher Cook and wife, Amanda; a brother, Greg Cook and wife, Annette; two sisters, Angela Cook Carson and husband, Byron and Betsy Cook Tarn and husband, John; brother-in-law, Don Lawson; step-father, Thurmond Cook; three grand-children, Kennedy Jamison Cook, Smith Thomas Cook, and Salem Reid Cook. Also survived by his nieces, Lauren Lawson Haywood, Donna Lawson Bledsoe, Corrine Cook Reynolds, Carmen Cook Chamberlain, and Elizabeth Carson and nephews, J.T. Tarn, Trenton Tarn, and Hall Carson.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Beauford and Betty Needham Cook; a son, Patrick James Cook; and sister, Vicki Cook Lawson.
Mr. Cook was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the beach, riding his UTV, and listening to ballgames by the pond. Butch was a role model to his sons; he exemplified work ethic and never missed an opportunity to say “I love you” as they parted company.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday at First United Methodist Church at 3:30 P.M. with Rev. D.C Collins officiating.
Interment will follow at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. at First United Methodist Church of Pilot Mountain.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cardinal Foundation.
