Mr. Kenneth Ray Dezern, age 75, of Pinnacle, NC, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on November 10, 1943, to the lateAustin Nathanial Dezern and Ola Mozella Vaughn Dezern. Mr. Dezern was retired from Reynolds American after 32 years. He served 9 years in the Army National Guard. During his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and making things with his hands. You would often see him with a camera around his neck headed to Pilot Mountain State Park to take pictures. He loved his corvette and motorcycles, never too tired to shine on them.
He leaves cherished memories with his wife of fifty years, Diane Heath Dezern, son, Sean (Amanda) Dezern, sister, Faye (Glenn) Marshall; two grandchildren, Jon Austin Dezern and Janson Dezern, whom he loved with his whole heart and was so proud of them. They were the joy of his life and were his “buddies” and little monkies. Two step-grandchildren, Brady Anderson and Walker Bowman; special niece, Cindy (Ryan) Talley, special nephew, Tim Marshall, special great-nieces, Holly Wilson, Megan Wilson, and Kayla Marshall. A special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and aides; Sabrina, Alice, Angela P., Ashley, Drew and Brandi for all their support and caring for him in our time of need.
He preceded in death by his parents; Austin Nathanial Dezern and Ola Mozella Vaughn Dezern.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Cox Needham Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Lynn G. Jordan officiating and speakers, Steve Allred, Jim Cartwright and Bro. Don Collins.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Private interment will follow in Pilot View Methodist Church Cemetery. The Mount Airy VFW Post 2019 and the Pilot Mountain VFW Post 9436 will provide full Military Honors
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, Back Pack Program at Shoals Elementary School, and Pilot View United Methodist Church Cemetery fund.
