Nellie Mae Ward Young, 81, of Pilot Mountain, passed away November 17, 2019 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born to T.B. Ward and Izora Freeman Ward in Pine Mountain, Va. on September 28, 1938. She leaves to cherish her memory, a son and daughter-in-law, Dale (Wanda) Young; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra (Gary) Hancock; two brothers, J.E. Ward, Daniel (Judy) Ward; five grandchildren, David (Allison) Sparks, Adam Bryant, Stephanie (Eric) Williams, April (Jesse) Martin, and Michael Young; and seven great-grandchildren; Nicholas Collins, Bailey Martin, Olivia Gwyn, Jaxon Sparks, Charleigh Mae Sparks, Dylan Higgins and Dakota Williams. Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry William Young; four brothers, Benjamin, Gene, Mart, and Glenn Ward; three sisters, Ann Sexton, Ruby Long, and Lucille Ward; and one granddaughter, Kelly Bryant. Filled with the faith and love of the Lord, she loved and cared for her family and countless others during a lengthy career in private home care as a CNA. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 6:00-7:00 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and a funeral service will be conducted Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM in Cox-Needham Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Boyles Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastors Dale Bass and Darrell Price will be officiating. Cox-Needham is respectfully serving the Young family.
