Samuel Franklin Johnson, age 85, of Pinnacle, NC, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on March 15, 1933 to Newell Johnson and Maggie Lawrence Johnson.
He served in the United States Army spending time in Germany. He attended Draughn Business College and High Point College. He taught Sunday School and was an usher as well as a deacon. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Ararat. He retired form Flowers Bakery after 38 years of service. He was a sales manager for Flowers Thrift Store in South Carolina and Tennessee.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Janie Melba Long Johnson; a son, Brian Franklin (Tresha) Johnson; a granddaughter, Briana Johnson; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leota (Junior) Jessup, one sis-n-law; Norma Hill and brother-n-law Jimmy Long.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and four sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at 2 P.M. with Bro. Don Collins officiating.
Interment will follow in Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Cox Needham Funeral Home Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to service.
