Smith Tucker Obituary

Mr. Smith “Wayne” Tucker, 81, of Little River, South Carolina (formally of Pilot Mountain, NC) passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Embrace Hospice House. Mr. Tucker was born in Surry County on February 20, 1937 to Josephine Wall Tucker and Richard Calvin “Dixie” Tucker. He was a beloved husband, daddy, Papa and Great-Papa. He was an avid fisherman who loved his 30 years of camping at “Covey’s Campground” on Claytor Lake. He also enjoyed farming until he found his dream job of selling cars at Scenic Ford Motor Company in Mount Airy, NC. Survived is the love of his life Glennie Beasley Tucker, married for 62 happy years; daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Barry Hooker of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Annette and Greg Cook of High Rock Lake, NC; grandchildren, Andy (Shannon) Snow, Mitchell Snow (Christine), Corrine (Levi) Reynolds, Carmen (Micah) Chamberlain; five beautiful great-grand children, Rylee and Lyric Reynolds, and Maddox, Maxsim, and Mia Chamberlain; a special family exchange student Carmen Gonzalez; as well as many special nieces and nephews. Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Kathleen Tucker Martel, and 2 brothers, Robert Tucker and Earl Tucker. A memorial service celebrating his precious life will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Cox Needham Funeral home in Pilot Mountain, at 2:00 PM, with Jeff Wall officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in Wayne’s memory to Embrace Hospice House, 175 Village Center Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC, 29579.
