Alice Gilley Harrison

Alice Gilley Harrison, 90, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Central Continuing Care of Mount Airy. Alice was born on March 27, 1930 to George and Mossie Combs Throckmorton. She loved family more than anything and always put their needs above those of her own. She was of the Baptist faith and loved fellowshipping with fellow worshipers at church as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed any time spent with her family whether it be just a walk or going out shopping. Left to cherish her sweet memory is  a son, J.W. (Carolyn) Gilley, one daughter, Doris Hawks; one brother, Bobby Throckmorton, and one sister, Betty Hill, along with four grandchildren, James (Shasta) Gilley, II., Craig (Renee) Hawks, Anthony (Sandy) Gilley and Holly (Mark) Hooker; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan Bailey, Tripp Gilley, Jadee Gilley, Haley Gilley, Ashley Gilley, Isabella Hawks, and Ellie Hooker; and one great-great-grandchild, Scarlette Bailey.

Mrs. Harrison was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Neal Harrison and a son-in-law, Calvin Hawks.

The Funeral Service will be held Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Jessup Grove Baptist Church with a visitation from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. James Gilley II and Rev. Billy Watson officiating.

The family requests that all attendees please wear masks and practice social distancing. If running a fever or not feeling well, please refrain from attending, in order to aid in the prevention and spread of COVID-19.
