Mr. Allen Gray “A.G.” Venable, Jr., age 50, of Westfield, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday afternoon, October 13, 2025. He was born on September 18, 1975, in Surry County to Carolyn Vaden Venable and the late Allen Gray Venable, Sr.
A.G. lived his life full-throttle- with laughter, loyalty and love. He was the life of every gathering, always ready with a helping hand, a big smile and a story. (Even if he could never quite retell a joke the same way.) He never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. He was an avid member of the Chiefs Kingdom.
He found great freedom and joy on the open road, but his greatest joy was his family- his children, Samuel and Abigail, who made him proud beyond words; and later, his granddaughters, Madelynn and Avery, who were the light of his life.
A.G. was a devoted husband to Peggy for thirty-one years, a loving father, husband, son, brother, and uncle. His laughter, joy and spirit will be missed.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Peggy Faye Gilley Venable; one son, Samuel (Allison) Venable; one daughter, Abigail (Matthew) Patane; his mother, Carolyn Vaden Venable; two granddaughters, Madelynn and Avery; two sisters, Annette (Bryan) Turney and Barbara (Steve) Coe; several nieces; a nephew; and a Doodle named Chipper.
The family will hold a celebration of life at their home on October 25, 2025 at sunset. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Red Cross.
Cox-Needham Funeral Home is respectfully serving the Venable family.
