On Friday, March 22nd, 2024, our beloved mother and friend went home to be with our Lord and her loving husband.
Ms. Anna Leigh Gunter Dunkley, 81, was born December 18th, 1942, in Patrick County, Virginia. Anna Leigh was a faithful wife and had a passion for making quilts and afghans as well as a lifelong pursuit in family genealogy. She was a loyal employee at JP Stevens until her retirement and served as a dedicated member of the Francisco Ladies Auxiliary.
Anna Leigh was proceeded in death by her parents, Russell and Louise Goins Gunter as well as her husband, William “Alfred” Dunkley.
Anna Leigh is survived by her son, William “Allan” Dunkley and wife, Abbey Mooney Dunkley; a special cousin, Jane Owens Bowman (Ricky Bowman); numerous cousins and a host of wonderful friends and neighbors; three special pets, Scooby, Little Bit, and Axel.
A funeral service will be held at 3pm at State Line Primitive Baptist Church on Monday, March 25th, 2024, with Elder Gary Lowe, Elder Jerry Cox, Rev. Ricky Rogers, and Brother Terry Collins officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2pm until 3pm.
