Barbara Jean Inman McMillian
October 18, 1931 – May 7, 2025

Barbara Jean Inman McMillian, age 93, of Pilot Mountain, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center.

Born October 18, 1931, in Surry County, Barbara was the daughter of the late Roy Rosevelt Inman and Hattie Lowe Inman. She held a bachelor’s degree and devoted her career to education, working as a beloved school teacher within the Yadkin Valley School System. Barbara’s nurturing spirit, dedication to learning, and love for her students left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin McMillian; and her brother & sister-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Lowe.

Those left to cherish her memory include her six children: Susette (E.J.) Kelly, Brenda Woods, Linda (Jay B.) Ayers, Jerry McMillian, Terry (Diane) McMillian, and Glenda Lincoln; as well as eleven treasured grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and family devotion will continue to live on through each of them.

A graveside service for Ms. McMillian will be held at noon on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Inman Family Cemetery.
