Betty Darlene Shinault Brown, 66, of Mount Airy, passed away August 7, 2021, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. Born March 2, 1955, she was the daughter of Billy W. and Celia Wall Shinault. Left behind to cherish her memory are, her parents; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph “Joey” (Karie) Brown, Amanda Brown; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary (Avis) Shinault; two sisters and brother-in-law, JoAnn Rogers, Sharon (Richard) Lawson; five grandchildren, Ryan Sellers, Adalyn Davis, Sebastian Brown, Charles Kimpon, Sabrina Kimpon, and a very special, long-time friend, Stuart Matthews.
She was predecased by her sister, Kathy Sue Shinault.
Betty was a woman of sincerity and devotion. She cared deeply for her family and friends and spoke for those who couldn’t speak for themselves, as a staunch advocate of four-legged furry friends. She had two special fur-babies, Buzzy, her Pomeranian, and her cat, Floppy. Betty loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest when she was spending time with her children and grandchildren, and traveling, especially out west, gave her stories to share with them. Music was a great joy for Betty, from singing in the church with her son, Joey, to listening to favorites, like Simon and Garfunkel’s “Sound of Silence.” Her sweet spirit and loving heart will be forever missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Friday August 13, 2021 in the Cox-Needham Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating Pastor Randy Beck
The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, August 12, 2021 and Friday, August 13, 2021 at the home of her brother, Gary Shinault, 121 Crestwood Dr. Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
