Betty Ellen (George) Matthews

Betty Ellen George Matthews, 94, passed from this life to her eternal home on July 11, 2025 & is now reunited with family & friends in Heaven.

Betty was born January 6, 1931 to the late James Walter & Mary Ann Jessup George. Betty loved the Lord, her family & her hometown of Pinnacle, living there her entire life until declining health necessitated her move to King Health & Rehab. Betty had previously been employed by Amos & Smith Hosiery in Pilot Mountain.

Betty married the love of her life, the late Charles Franklin Matthews, on April 10, 1955. They were blessed with several generations of nieces & nephews who they loved as much as if they were their own children, as well as several “fur babies.”

In addition to her parents & husband, Betty was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Payne & Elsie Bennett; & her brother, Billy George.

The family would like to thank the staff of Trellis Supportive Care & King Health & Rehab for the gentle care they showed Betty during her transition.

A funeral service will be held at Siloam Baptist Church on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 11:00am with Pastor Jarred Seal officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
