Billy Gray George, 88, a man of unwavering Christian faith, received his heavenly reward on July 22, 2022, passing away at Mountain Valley Hospice, Yadkinville.
He was born July 13, 1934 to the late James Walter and Mary Ann Jessup George. Bill loved the Lord, his family, and his hometown of Pinnacle, living there his entire life until declining health in recent years necessitated his move to Rose Tara Memory Care in King. Bill had previously been employed by The Hastings Company and NC DOT. He proudly volunteered many years with Pinnacle Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marie Handy George (also of Rose Tara); son, Garland (Julie) George; daughter, Michelle (Mark) Blalock; three grandsons: Ryan (April) George, Grayson George, and Maston Blalock; one granddaughter, Madison Blalock; and one great granddaughter, Bella George; a sister, Betty Matthews; as well as several dear in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Payne and Elsie Bennett.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the gentle care they showed Bill during his transition and the staff of Rose Tara Memory Care for the love given to Bill and Marie in recent years. A graveside service for Bill will be held at Pinnacle Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 1pm with Pastor Jerry Horne officiating.
Memorials for Bill may be made to Pinnacle Volunteer Fire & Rescue or Mountain Valley Hospice.
