Billy Gibson Obituary

Billy Joe Gibson, 85 of Pinnacle NC died Thursday February 15, 2024 after a short illness.  He was born June 13, 1938 to Edward and Ethel Gibson and grew up in Germanton, NC. He was a graduate of Germanton High School where he excelled in basketball and was named All Northwest Player.  After graduation he began his career at Hennis Freight Lines and after 37 years he retired driving from Consolidated Freight. Over his career he received numerous safe driving awards. He was an avid golfer, he loved working in the yard especially riding his mower, planting flowers, washing his truck to a shine always keeping busy outside.  Later in years he would enjoy sitting in his chair in the shade on the bank watching his great grandchildren play in the yard as he would sip on his daily bourbon and coke.

His parents and brothers preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister Judy Marshall (Edward) of Walnut Cove. His children Sandy Jones (Gerald) of Pinnacle, Joe Gibson (Christine) of Hattiesburg, MS, Michael Gibson of Walnut Cove and Sean Gibson (Robb) of Raleigh, NC and his special friend Betty Watts of Germanton. His grandchildren Jared (Ashley), Samuel Jones (Brandi), Lucas Jones (Breanna), Samantha Gibson, Larry Gibson, Nick Gibson and Jenna Gibson. Great grandchildren Harrison, Lily, Griffin, Lucy, Shepard, Lola.

There will be celebration with family in the spring per his wishes. We would like to thank Walnut Ridge Assisted Living and Horizons Memory Care for the excellent care for daddy this past 15 months. They treated daddy with kindness and matched his wittiness. A special thanks to Trellis of Walnut Cove, especially Amber or Dr Amber as daddy would call her. She held our hands through this transition guiding us every step.

There are many friends and family that have been there for us and have prayed for us during this time. We thank you too!
