Billy Sylsberry Obituary

Billy “Darryl” Sylsberry, 60, of Pilot Mountain, passed away December 27, 2020 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born October 12, 1960 in Doylestown, PA to Billy Dean Sylsberry and Martha Ann “Molly” Carlson Sylsberry.  Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Jan Warner Sylsberry; one son, Matthew Glen Sylsberry; one daughter, Leah Christine “Bennett” (Adam Cunningham) Sylsberry; and two brothers, David Mitchell Sylsberry and Douglas (Karen) Sylsberry.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Sylsberry was a petty officer third class, E-5 in the Navy and served on the USS SHASTA stationed at the Naval Weapons Station in Concord, CA.  After an honorable transfer to the Naval Reserve, he began his career as a fleet truck driver for Cardinal Logistics.  He loved tending to and taking care of his plants and had a passion for woodworking.  He was a wonderful loving husband of 28 years, as of October 24 this year, and was a great dad to Matthew and Leah.  He also had a love of photography and was especially proud of a photo that he took of a fawn, which is now framed and proudly displayed in the family home.

The family of Mr. Sylsberry have decided to err on the side of caution and not have a memorial service at this time due to the spike in Covid-19 cases. They wish to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and calls during this, their time of need.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woltz Hospice Home in his memory.
