Ms. Bonnie Jean Ashburn Butcher, age 73, of Jonesville, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday night, November 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 26, 1951, in Surry County to the late Brady Ousburn Ashburn and Etta Elizabeth Tilley Ashburn.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Eric Jason Shinault; daughters, Kathy Ann (Terry) Denton, Tammy Lynn Shinault, and April Lee (Brian) Badgett; her brother, Timothy “Timmy” (Trina) Ashburn; sisters, Judy Burchette, Linda Murray, and Edith (William) Collins; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Butcher was preceded in death by her husband, Benton Roy Butcher; brothers, Jimmy Ashburn Sr., Donald “Dale” Ray Ashburn, Clifton Ashburn, Paul Junior Ashburn, Roger Ashburn, and Gurney Thomas Ashburn; and her sister, Ruby Ann Ashburn Wilson.

Ms. Butcher worked for many years as a housekeeper with Cinderella Cleaning Service. Per her wishes, no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.
