Carolyn Sue Scott Hankins, age 79, of Pilot Mountain, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Monday, February 24, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Pilot Mountain. She was born on August 5, 1945, in Mingo County, West Virginia, to the late James Sherman Scott and Bonnie Hunt Scott.

Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family above all else. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Gene Hankins; her daughters, Carol Newsom (Chris) and Lisa Passeno (Leon); five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Her kindness, strength, and love will forever be remembered by those who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home, with Elder Chris Newsom officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the parlor at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. Following the service, Carolyn will be laid to rest at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery.
