Mrs. Celia Ann Wall Shinault, age 89 of Ararat, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 2nd.
Mrs. Shinault was born on January 22, 1934 in Surry County to the late John Wesley & Bessie Cummings Wall.
She spent her life living where she was born & where she loved, in the beautiful Surry County. She was a farmer by trade & did everything you could think of, from raising tobacco & chickens to raising her youngins. When she wasn’t working, she could be found playing Uno with her family. She was an avid card player & taught her children & grandchildren how to shuffle cards & play Uno as soon as they were old enough.
Celia loved to help people in any way that she could. She cared for her mother & everybody else that she was able to care for, for as long as she was able to. She did more for everybody else than she did for herself.
She was a collector of many things, specifically dimes & seashells. She loved going to the beach with her family & looking for the perfect seashells to bring home to add to her collection.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 75 years, Billy Wilson Shinault; her son & daughter-in-law, Gary & Avis Shinault; her daughter & special son-in-law, Sharon & Richard Lawson; her sister, Bertie Beck; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; & two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Celia was preceded in death by three daugthters, Kathy Sue Shinault, Betty Brown & Jo Ann Rogers; one granddaughter, Kathy Ellen Rogers & five siblings, Ruby Wall, Dorothy Wall, Hester Wall Bruner, Tom Cummings, J.W. Wall & Gladys Wall O’Neal.
