Charles Goins Obituary

Mr. Charles Wendell Goins, 78, of Rockingham passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Goins was born June 1, 1943 in Francisco, NC, son of Clyde Levi Goins and Edith Clara Beasley Goins.

He served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He also served his community locally with the AmVets. Charles was a member of Jupiter Springs Baptist Church in Sanford and attended Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Rockingham. "Gabby", as he was affectionately known, he loved everyone. And everyone loved him. The nickname, "Gabby", was given to Charles for his gift of talking. It was said that to know Charles was to love him. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back for his friends and family. His friends would likely tell that he was quite the jokester. He was employed as a trainman with CSX railroad for 45 years and he loved his work and his co-workers. He also found enjoyment in working in his yard and was an avid North Carolina Tarheel fan. Charles lived life to the fullest.

Mr. Goins was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Wayne Goins. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 42 years, Sally Darlene Goins of the home; brothers, Dennis Goins of Sanford, Joel Goins of Charlotte, and Edward Goins of Mt. Airy; special friends, Roger Stewart, Sam Tucker, and Tommy West; a special young man that was like his son, Will Bostick; and several nieces and nephews.
