David Stewart Obituary

Mr. David Alan Stewart, 80, of Tobaccoville, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice home in Winston-Salem. Mr. Stewart was born in Greensboro N.C. on April 17, 1940 to Robert David and Pauline Gray Stewart. He later met and married Edith Fletcher and they spent 30 wonderful years together. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired from Forsyth Technical Community College as an HVAC Instructor.

David enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and golfing with his buddies. He loved his church, Meadows Baptist of Walnut Cove and was a large part of the bus ministry there.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 30 years; his children, Robert (Cindy Murray) Stewart, Paula (Steve) Kennedy, Debra Murray and Debra Lamintia; two brothers, Bob (Martha) Stewart and Frank (Marie) Stewart, one sister Nancy Moss, and nine grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne Stewart.

The family will receive friends at Meadows Baptist Church in Walnut Cove on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM with the funeral service starting at 3:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Rick Craig. There will be a private interment at the church cemetery.

Mr. Stewart will lie in state at Cox-Needham on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM and on Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
