Mr. Donald Ray Watson, age 68 of Pilot Mountain, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
Mr. Watson was born on December 2, 1955 in Stokes County to the late Marvin Lee & Vernie Brim Watson.
Those left to cherish his memory include: Shannon Ferguson (Brad) and Amanda Watson. Also, two granddaughters Isabelle and Sophia Ferguson; and his sister, Clercy Tucker.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Watson was preceded in death by: his partner Cindy Polley, brother Hayward Watson and sister Linda Hardy.
Mr. Watson spent his life in the tobacco industry. As a young child he would help his family prime and cure tobacco, which led to his lifelong career as a packing mechanic for RJ Reynolds.
Mr. Watson had a great love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He enjoyed spending time hunting with his nephew Jason Watson and loved to fish when the weather was nice. He was never happier than his time spent with family and enjoying the outdoors.
A time of remembrance for Mr. Watson will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home from 2:00pm until 4:00pm. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Surry Longspurs Chapter NWTF Outreach Fund in care of Buffy Bryant 187 Ararat Longhill Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. Memorial funds will be used by the Outreach Fund through the National Wild Turkey Federation to offer hunting and fishing opportunities to the disabled and youth.
