Dorothy Lee Moorefield Smith, age 91, of Pinnacle, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Born on May 22, 1933, in Yadkin County, she was the cherished daughter of the late Barnit Talmage and Sarah Ellen Rachel Moorefield.

Dorothy lived a life full of love and devotion to her family. She found joy in fishing, preparing delicious meals, and making her home a warm and welcoming place. She was known best for homemade biscuits, pies, and cakes, and she insisted that no one leave her home hungry. Dorothy’s greatest pride came from ensuring her family was well-fed, loved, and cared for.

Dorothy’s memory will forever be cherished by her loving family, including her daughter, Sherry Robin (Gary) Robertson; her sons, James Warner and Jeff (Kathy) Smith; her grandchildren, Jamie Warner, Amy Armstrong, Paul (Alicia) Robertson, Kala (Gabe) Stahl, Dana (Ben) Thompson, Melissa (Brandon) Gentry, and Sarah (Daniel) Williams; 22 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Valinda “Jack” Smith; her granddaughter, Lisa Hood; and 12 siblings.

A funeral service to honor Dorothy’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pinnacle United Methodist Church Cemetery.
