Dorothy Armstrong Simmons (Goldie), of Pilot Mountain, passed away on the afternoon of March 20, 2023, at Westchester Harbour in High Point.
She was born to Lewis and Mary Jane Sparger Armstrong on April 19, 1923, in Ararat, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack, son Gary, brothers Lindo, Laymond, Ray, and Harding and sisters Geneva Key and Ophelia Simmons. She is survived by her daughter, Carole Boyd (Andy), granddaughter, Allison Dunlap (Jason) and their children, Jacquelyn and Jaxon, and grandsons David Boyd, Wesley Simmons and Wayne Simmons.
Goldie was a beautician for many years. Following that she was a substitute teacher for several years. She loved being around people and was especially fond of family reunions.
In 1996 she donated her body to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. Therefore, a graveside service service may be held at a later date. Her wishes were to have an informal visitation with family and friends. Therefore, a visitation will be held on April 15, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Armfield Senior Center, 873 W 52 Bypass, Pilot Mountain.
