With bittersweet gratitude and deep sorrow, the Montgomery family announces that Heaven has gained a one-of-a-kind angel. Mr. Dwayne “Dawg” Edward Montgomery of Ararat, NC, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 6, 2023, surrounded by his wife, children, and devoted friend DC Collins. Mr. Montgomery was born on June 15, 1961, to Edward E. “Ed” Montgomery and Juanita Hill Montgomery, and graduated from South Stokes High School in 1979. He was devoted to and passionate about his family, friends, and his life’s work as an electrician. He was a talented cook, adventurous camper, and embraced every opportunity to create functional works of art from materials otherwise destined for the garbage. Mr. Montgomery was predeceased by his father, Edward E. “Ed” Montgomery; his mother, Juanita Hill Montgomery; and his niece, Jennifer “Jenny” Nieberle. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Rene’ B. Montgomery; his daughter, Nicolette Hampton (Joey); his son, Kasey Montgomery (Hollie); his wife’s children whom he claimed as his own, Jessica Delp (Bradley), Adrienne Combs (Jarrett), and Jayson Murphy (Chelsea); his cherished and precious grand-children, Braylin, Hailey, Laekyn, Nicholas, Braden, Haleigh, Deagun, Hunter, Joshua, Murphy, Dacie-Grace, and Marley; his sister and brothers, Debby Nieberle, Melvin Montgomery (Tracy), and Bradford Montgomery (Rhona); his niece, Sonya Nieberle; his nephew, Tyre Montgomery; his sisters-in-law, Tina Poe (Tim) and Angela Prevette; his SPE family; many cherished friends and co-workers; and his life-long friend, Roy “Butch” Callahan (Cyndy). The Montgomery family extends their sincerest gratitude to Sammy Phillips Electric (SPE), Mountain Valley Hospice, and Nurse Bailey. A Celebration of Life will be held at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at 822 W. Main Street, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041, on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023 at 1pm. Family will receive visitors following the service. Bro. D.C. Collins, and David Hendrix will be conducting the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Mountain Valley Hospice or your local animal shelter.
