Mr. Early Lee Mathies, age 70, of Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away late Tuesday evening, July 23, 2019, at Woltz Hospice Home, Dobson, NC. He was born November 1, 1948, to the late Susie Eveline Beck Mathis Mathies.
Mr. Mathies was a veteran, who proudly served his country. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was retired from Security Forces as a security guard.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Bobby Lee (Shannen) Mathies and Tony Lee Randall Mathis; one Step-son, Christopher (Lucy) Edwards; one step-daughter, Melissa (George) Gonzalez; one brother, Bobby (Irene) Bowman; and his extremely loved grandchildren, Ryan Mathies, Addison Mathies, Skyler Cole Mathies Wallace, Chelsea (Bryce) Wilson, Brittany Mills, Kimberly Bowman, Arwyn Edwards, James Edwards; and Sarah Bowman. Great-grandchildren, Casen Jack and Cohen Luke Wilson, Cyris Wayne and Aksel Blaze Knott, and Serenity Grace Mills.
Mr. Mathies was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Virginia Moorefield Mathies and his late mother, Eveline Beck Mathis Mathies.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 28, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Chapel with Bro. Wayne Draughn. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at Pinnacle United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pinnacle, NC. with military honors provided by the Mount Airy VFW Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain VFW Post 9436.
