Edward Chilton Obituary

Edward “Blair” Chilton, age 76, of Stokesdale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

Blair was born on August 21, 1948, in Surry County to the late Glenn and Margaret Hart Chilton.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service as a mechanic with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.

Blair was known for his friendly spirit and his love for being out and about—especially his frequent visits to Walmart, where he always made a point to speak to everyone he saw. He had a kind heart, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the outdoors. After working night shifts, he often spent his days doing landscaping or any kind of work that kept him outside. He was a true movie buff and cherished the times spent with his friends at Belews Creek and with his beloved niece, Sutton, at the lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy Chilton; and a nephew, Jeff Chilton.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, David Chilton and wife Linda of King; brothers, Allan Chilton and wife Jolene of Pilot Mountain, and Jerry Chilton and wife Shelby of Courtney; nieces and nephews, Allyson Williams and husband Justin, Sutton Williams, Lisa Goins and husband Jeff, Mark Chilton, Bradley Chilton and wife Amanda, and Grant Chilton and wife Maizi; along with many other extended family members, friends, and loved ones.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Pinnacle View Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Chamblin officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to his caregiver, Misty Dezern Jones, and to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassionate care.  The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Colin and Davina Middleton for all of their help during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Blair’s honor to Mountain Valley Hospice.
