Elmer Harold Holden, Jr., 76, went home to be with his Lord July 21, 2023. Visitation Services for Harold will be held on Monday July 24th at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church in King from 11-12 with funeral services to follow from 12-1.
Harold was born on August 9, 1946, and grew up in Winston-Salem, NC, the son of the late Elmer Harold Holden, Sr. and Pamelia Pierce Holden.
Harold served in the US Army from 1969 to 1971. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he went on to work at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for 20 years. Harold later started his own business, Holden Grading and ran it until he retired. After retirement, Harold continued to work on his antique cars and took up baking cakes, cinnamon rolls, cookies and sweets of all kinds. Harold had a kind and generous spirit and would help anyone he could. He loved his family deeply and spent much of his free time visiting, talking, and helping family and friends. Harold loved all animals but particularly his cats. He also enjoyed showing people around his museum and reminiscing.
Harold was proceeded in death by his Father Elmer Harold Holden, Sr. and Mother Pamelia Pierce Holden as well as his sister Marie Holden Crater. Survivors include his loving wife Delphus Chapman Holden of King; sister JoAnn Holden Brown of Rural Hall; children Andrew Harold Holden and wife Tammy of Clemmons, daughter Amy Holden Harper and husband Jason (deceased) of Clemmons, son John Alan Holden and wife Stephanie of Clemmons; 6 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
