She was born on December 14th, 1932, in Braxton, West Virginia, to the late Orvia and Ruby King Barrickman .
Mrs. Young was a woman of boundless creativity, warmth, and musical talent. From a young age, she discovered her love for nurturing life, cultivating a lush garden with her green thumb and creating delectable custom cakes that delighted all who tasted them.
In her youth, Mrs. Young’s caring nature extended beyond her hobbies, as she often dedicated her time to babysitting, nurturing the next generation with love and patience. Her compassion and nurturing spirit would later manifest as she embarked on a journey alongside her beloved husband, James, love on an Army Base, where they began a new chapter together.
A beacon of humor and joy, Mrs. Young carried on the legacy of the King Family’s wit and laughter, infusing every moment with levity and love. Her musical talents were a testament to her vibrant spirit, as she delighted in playing a multitude of instruments, including the guitar, auto harp, banjo, mandolin, and even the juice harp. She approached music with an adventurous spirit, always eager to try her hand at any instrument that crossed her path.
Mrs. Young’s fondest moments were those spent surrounded by her cherished family, reveling in the harmonious melodies of music and joyous laughter of loved ones. Whether strumming the strings of her guitar or plucking the notes of the banjo, she found solace and connection in the rhythms of family gatherings, where music and love intertwined.
