Ernest Cook Obituary

Ernest "Raybon" Cook, age 82, of Pilot Mountain, passed away late on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born on August 12, 1942, in Surry County to the late Alfred Franklin Cook & Lillian Mae Jessup Cook.

Raybon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & brother. He shared 47 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Bonnie Kathleen Hill Cook, & after 17 years apart, they are now reunited in Heaven. In addition to his wife & parents, he was preceded in death by his & Bonnies infant son, Brandon Ray Cook; as well as his sister, Vernie Marshall.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Jeffrey (Tammy) Cook & Cheryl (Dean) Bennett; grandchildren, Kristy Bennett & Joshua (April) Bennett; & great-grandchildren, Kiddrick Parker, Aaron Bowen, Abigail Bowen & Allison Sams. He is also survived by his brothers, Thurmond Cook & Alvis Cook.

A funeral service to honor Raybon’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home, with Rev. Joey Jessup officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service & burial will follow at Jessup Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
