Gaston Loye (Buzz) Penland

Gaston Loye  (Buzz) Penland, 63, of King, passed away at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center on July 5, 2020. The son of Gaston Lloyd and Annie Hicks Penland, he was born May 9, 1957. He leaves behind to cherish his memory,his mother, Annie Hicks Chapman his sisters, Frankie Penland, Willie (Ralph) Frye, Beverly Essick, Margie Penland; his brothers, James (Kathie) Penland, Rex Penland; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gaston Loye Penland Sr., and a sister, Gladys Penland.

Gaston loved the mountains, especially Cherokee, and fishing was a favorite pastime. He relished time with his sister, Frankie, with whom he lived since his youth.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 at Pinnacle Volunteer Fire and Rescue in Pinnacle, NC.

Special thanks to Frankie for caring for Gaston for thirty plus years and to Beverly and Kayla for their care for the last few years.
