Gaye Love Gordon, 76, of Concord, passed away January 14, 2021, at Atrium Health University City Hospital in Charlotte. She was born December 26, 1944, the daughter of Wiley Marion and Orene Atkins Love. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons and daughters-in-law, Randy (Evelyn) Gordon, David (Dana) Gordon; four grandchildren, Justin Surratt, Madison Gordon, Courtney Gordon, Connor Gordon; a brother and sister-in-law, Terry (Connie) Love, a sister-in-law, Tammy Love; and a sister and brother-in-law, Martha L. (Phil) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 50 years, Homer William Gordon and a brother, James Marion Love.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother; Gaye will be sorely missed. She cherished spending time with her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church choir, the United Methodist Women, and a member of several bridge clubs in Pilot Mountain. She was also known in the school system as a caring and encouraging teacher’s assistant and in the community as a skilled seamstress. She possessed many wonderful talents, including a giver of her time and her free advice. She was also very active in the Garden Club, serving as President. After moving to Concord, she joined and became an active member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church, the church choir, and a Quilters Guild.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The Rev. Tom Hunter will be officiating. Mrs. Gordon will lie in state on Sunday, January 17 from 12:30-5:00, Monday, January 18 from 9:00-5:00, and Tuesday, January 19, from 9:00-12:00.
