Glenn Douglas Sams, age 79, of Pilot Mountain, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. Glenn was born on March 17, 1945, in Stokes County to the late John Wesley Sams and Lillian Irene Sheppard Sams.
Glenn worked as a skilled metal fabricator for Champion Industries and was well-known for his love of the outdoors. He was an avid hunter who found joy in nature and the simple pleasures of life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen Hardy Sams, and his loving daughter, Leigh Anne Barneycastle and her husband Charles. He also leaves behind his brother, Loyd Sams, and wife Joann, along with his cherished grand-dogs, Waylon and Merle Barneycastle, who brought him endless joy.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Franklin Sams, Carlos Sams, and Alvin Sams; and his sisters, Estelle Sams Gordon, Virginia Sams Lyons, and Shirley Sams Fulk.
A memorial service to honor Glenn’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Brims Grove Baptist Church, with Reverend Gerald Jones and Dr. Will Eads officiating. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.
His family and friends will forever remember him for his kindness, love for family, and his deep connection to the outdoors.
