Ima Jean Ashburn celebrated her 88th birthday leaving her earthly home to meet her Lord and Savior and join loved ones who’ve gone on before.
Ima Jean was born January 7th, 1936, to the late Aubrey Benson and Louise Jennings.
Ima Jean was a gifted pianist with a beautiful alto voice. Throughout the years she played and sang in church choirs, quartets, and trios. Many have been blessed by her musical talents at worship services, revivals, home comings and family gatherings.
Ima Jean has always loved traveling, family vacations, bus tours, and especially RV camping in her senior years.
Ima Jean is survived by her son, Steve Ashburn (Robin) ; son-in-law, Ricky Bryant ; granddaughter, Leslie Hamm (Josh) and great-granddaughter Jessie ; brother and sister-in-law, Aubrey Jennings (Judy) and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Ima Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Gray Ashburn and daughter Donna Ashburn Bryant.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10th from 1pm-2pm at Pinnacle View Baptist Church with funeral service following at 2pm. Burial will follow at Pinnacle View Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Joey Lane officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at Priddy Manor Assisted Living, Novant Health, special caregivers Thelma Dobson, Susie Bruner and all others throughout her later years.
