Ira Gene Branch

Mr. Ira Gene Branch, age 77, of Siloam, North Carolina, passed away from a sudden illness on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Mount Airy, North Carolina.

Mr. Branch was born on April 17, 1944, in Wise, Virginia, to the late Ira Bingham and Margaret Frances Alley Branch.

Ira was of the Methodist faith and retired from a long career as a truck driver, often traveling with his wife of 43 years, Christine after his discharge from the Army. When he wasn’t driving trucks, Ira enjoyed building things and working in his yard. Some of his favorite things to do were watching movies and reading many different types of books, as well listening to country music (especially Elvis). He was known by his family as an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather, and absolutely loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved animals, especially his two precious dogs, Cam and Sassy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Christine Branch, his son Bobby Gene Branch (Rhonda); stepsons, Rick (Cheryl), David, and James (Carolyn) Whitaker; his daughters Tammy (John)  Aldred and Melinda (Roy) Farley; brothers: J.C., Larry, Troy, and Damon Branch, sisters: Connie, Nina, Merita, and Theresa; special friends: Junior Crissman and Frank Duncan; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Ira was predeceased by his brothers: Charles and Jimmy Branch; his sisters: Brenda and Joanne, and his special friend Pat Grizell.

A memorial service will be conducted on May 28th, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Cox-Needham Funeral Chapel
