Jack Marion Jr. Obituary

February 9, 1974 – March 14, 2025

Jack Darrell Marion, Jr., 51, of Garner, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 14, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on February 9, 1974, in Forsyth County to Linda York Marion & the late Jack Darrell Marion, Sr.

Jack was a skilled aircraft mechanic & jet technician, dedicating his career to US Airways & GE Aerospace. His passion for classic cars was evident in his love for restoring vintage vehicles & attending car shows, where he formed countless friendships within the classic car community.

As an EAGLE scout, Jack became a steward of the land and a productive member of society. His passion for the outdoors translated throughout life as he went on countless many cross-country road trips where irreplaceable memories were made. He received the lifesaving award through scouts as a teen. As a senior in high school, Jack received a congressional youth award which allowed him to serve alongside our State Senator in Congress.

Jack did not own a television for most of his adult life. Instead, he spent all of his time creating. From playing live music, painting, writing, or even pinstriping and sharing those gifts with his friends. Jack is survived by family and friends, but also by his art.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved mother, Linda York Marion; his brother, Matthew Ashley (Laura Eason) Marion; his uncle, Ronald Ray (Linda Holder) Marion; his aunts, Judy York & Martha York; his nieces, Cheyenne Vera Champion & Megan Poteat; his cousins, Beth (Wesley) Hunter & Sydney Griffin, Holly Smitherson & Wendy Rutland; as well as many dear friends.

In addition to his father, Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents, Royce & Betty Marion, James & Lola Golden York, & his aunt, Anne Marie Peacock.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Pilot Mountain First United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center, with Rev. Jeremy Pegram & Chaplain Elaine Tola officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery.

As a tribute to Jack’s love for classic cars, a special display of vintage automobiles will be arranged at both the church & the cemetery for his family & friends to enjoy, celebrating his passion for restoration & craftsmanship.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s honor to Duke Hospice.
