James McClelland Obituary

James Michael McClelland, affectionately known as Jim to his friends and family, was called home to the Lord on June 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, selflessness, and unwavering faith. Born on August 5, 1952, in Norwich, NY, Jim's journey of 72 years was marked by an enduring love for his family, a passion for the outdoors, and a heart that found joy in the simple pleasures of life.

A graduate of Bowie State University, Jim served as a dedicated lineman at Pike Electric for two decades. His commitment to hard work and his colleagues' well-being was as steadfast as his devotion to his family. His colleagues remember him not just for his reliability and skill but for his ability to turn a tough day into a series of laughable moments.

Jim was preceded in death by his dear father, Francis Bolton McClelland, his loving mother, Edna Jane McClelland, his brother, Richard McClelland, and his dearest friend, Dean Palmer. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his beloved wife, Susan McClelland; his son, Brad McClelland; his daughter-in-law, Christy McClelland; his daughter, Ashley McClelland, and her boyfriend, Robert Roper. His sisters, Suzanne Brown, Darleen Stanley, and Mary Stites, along with their spouses, Ernie Brown and Randal Stites. They will miss his presence deeply, as will his granddaughter, Haley Foster, and great-granddaughter, Zoey Kaye Hawkins. Jim's passing also leaves a void in the hearts of his numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were blessed to know him.

A man of simple tastes, Jim relished in listening to Christian music, basking in the beauty of nature, and watching his children pursue their passions. His presence at family gatherings was a source of joy and comfort, as he embodied the spirit of someone who truly understood the value of being together. Jim's ability to make anyone laugh, his selflessness, and his deep faith in God were the pillars upon which he built his life. As we say goodbye to Jim, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a soul that has undoubtedly been welcomed home by God.

In the words of the well-loved comedian and actor Robin Williams, "No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world." Jim McClelland may not have set out to change the world, but through his words, his ideas, and his boundless humor, he certainly changed the worlds of those around him for the better. We take comfort in knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire laughter, love, and faith for generations to come.
